By clearing blockages, rebalancing your mind, body....and spirit, I believe you will feel happier, more focused in your life and ready to face any challenge. I will do my best help you feel peace in your mind and love and happiness in your heart. I will try to help you manifest what you really want in life!

The Hatha Yoga class is for beginners and intermediate Yogis; I can vary the postures to suit all abilities. The style is fun and creative, yet focused and still challenging.

The Hatha flows and also has many influences from various disciplines and teachers. Yoga stretches, strengthens, tones, helps to align, and improves the health of the
entire body. My varied mix of guided meditations will help you in different areas of your life and help you to calm the mind and bring you into the present.

Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) are everywhere. The low level radiation has serious health consequences and experts are predicting a major crisis if we don't wake up and make some changes NOW. There is an exponential rise in brain tumours and childhood leukemia. Wireless in schools has caused microwave weapons experts, epidemiologists, and scientists to come out of retirement to speak up and warn us of the dangers. People need to know about this invisible health threat before it is too late. We can learn to safely use our technology. Awareness precedes action. For the sake of your health, and those of then children of the world who represent our most precious resources, I am hosting the EMF Summit.

The New You! ( EVENT)

By Derek Mills

What are most people missing?

Disclaimer:  I have a vested interest in helping people to discover the right path to happiness and success. This is based upon intuition, instinct, accessing my greatest self, research and the feedback of audiences all over the globe. My vested interest is that I'm part of this world, and to the degree that I can help those struggling with this issue, I help the world and I help myself.  Many of you will know that I had a revolution in my life just over a decade ago and it led me to shift from failure, near depression and almost broke, to happiness and success. Until then I had spent 17 years looking outside of myself for the ingredient to success and happiness. Yet I discovered that we all have practical tools within us ALREADY which we can use to live an infinitely more fulfilling and meaningful life for ourselves and others.

There is a missing ingredient to greater joy and whatever it is good human beings call ‘success’, it's all based upon the setting of and living by Daily Standards.

When we live our lives by Daily Standards, set from within ourselves or our organisation, and we commit to living from that place for just one day, today, we excel beyond any reasonable expectation and more. We enjoy the journey.
I have to admit when I first found this 'missing-link', this vital ingredient to personal happiness and success, I was at first shocked, then elated, then transformed.

YOUR PERFECT LIFE

Standards come from the TrueSelf or the ‘real you. When we set our Standards from within and live by them for just Today, we inhabit a congruent life and we create therefore the life that we were meant to live. Most of our individual Standards have been formed consciously or unconsciously throughout our life. But have you ever considered whether your Standards honour and serve you? In doing so, do they allow you to honour and serve others?

By going into your TrueSelf you can gain the wisdom and guidance to set Daily Standards. Setting Standards helps you to be happy in the present moment, and not look to the future for your happiness and success; as is often the case with goals.

Upon review, there are seven key areas of our lives in which we can begin immediately, today, to set new Life Standards:

1. Personal Health & Fitness
2. Environment – (What surrounds us affects us. What is within us affects us)
3. Relationships
4. Family
5. Emotions
6. Career or Job
7. Time (How we live – not how long we live; how we serve and use our time on earth)

How do we Set New Standards to give us the success and happiness we dream of?

We undertake a Standards Five-Step Reframe™. The 5 steps are:

1.     Review your existing Standards in the key areas of your life. What was the source of those Standards?
2.     Realise what Standards are honouring and serving you. Also consider what Standards help you to honour and serve others? Which ones are harming others or the person that you now are?
3.     Release the Standards that are harming you the most (there are many healthy and congruent ways to do this);
4.     Reset new Standards that honour and serve the person you are today and which allow you to honour and serve others;
5.     Re-commit today and then daily to your new Standards.

‘When we live by Standards set from within, we become happy and successful TODAY!

True success and happiness is created by thinking and living by Daily Standards. When we do this, we wake up and find ourselves more powerful than we previously dared to dream. We discover parts of ourselves we didn’t know, our gifts and talents begin to pour out in a way that they never have before, and we get to make a positive difference not just to our immediate surroundings, but to the broader world at large.

This plus a lot more will be shared at our upcoming event ‘Create Your Best Life in a Daywith Derek Mills and Michael James. The event provides the opportunity and practical tools to access your greatest self, TrueSelf, to set in motion the Standards which will shape the rest of your life, one day at a time. It's a fun day because everybody enjoys creating and being their greatest self.

It's the chance to discover more of your truth, set new Standards from that place and to realise that you are more powerful than you had ever dreamed.

This is a very unique workshop where Derek Mills and Michael James share how to create or re-create your life, your best life, on the day. Based upon a collective 40 years of experience and research, both teachers will create a space where each person attending will be able to 'get' themselves for maybe the first time. Then everyone will be taken through a process and a series of practical steps in order to realise who they truly are and what is possible and true for them.  Moreover, each attendee will then have a Standards blueprint, which they can use as the genesis of what we call your 'best life'. We share insights into the meaning of TrueSelf and how to get and stay in that place. Michael will also share how applying the Law of Attraction into your everyday life, will cause you to ‘live in the now’.

2. Who is the event for?

Anyone who would like better health, greater wealth, improved relationships, to feel good about your image, to understand more about yourself, to try new things, to have a more fulfilling career, to be a more contented parent, to learn new skills, to embrace life's challenges, to feel happier and to live an empowered life as your TrueSelf.

3. Why should they choose to come to your event?

Derek has spoken to audiences from 7 to 7000 and has inspired people around the world to change their lives for the better. Derek is known as the Standards Guy and shares with you how to set Daily Standards instead of goals to achieve happiness and success in your personal and business life.

This approach and philosophy is unique. No other event will have this approach because Derek is the creator of the philosophy and the tools. The philosophy and processes are so unique that Hay House, the publishers, gave Derek the opportunity to share his message in his first book - The 10-Second Philosophy, and decided to do so after just one meeting, even though Derek was completely unknown in this arena at the time.

4. Where is it happening?

Saturday 18th October 2014 between 10am and 5pm
The Bentovin Room, 8 Ridgmount St, London, WC1E 7AA

5. How much does it cost?

£55 per ticket

It is your life, and maybe it's time to review it. Take action, go into TrueSelf, and set Standards, live your truth and excel!

Derek, The Standards Guy,  guides clients and audiences how to use ‘Standards’ (basis, criterion, levels, qualities and rules) to achieve immediate change in their lives. He is in row 9 on our Practitioners' List

Nourish The Children

By Hans Parge

Nourish the Children® (NTC) applies the rigour of successful business
practices to provide a consistent and growing supply of nourishing food to
the world’s most needy children. In March 2014, the NTC initiative surpassed 350 million meals donated to malnourished and hungry children around the
world, since the initiative was established. Today an average of 4.5
million meals are donated each month on an ongoing basis, feeding more than
150,000 hungry children around the world.

The NTC initiative was launched in June 2002. The programme quickly grew as
thousands of generous donors recognised an opportunity to make a difference
by purchasing and donating food designed for malnourished children. In
October 2010, donations surpassed 200 million meals. It has now taken only
a little over 2 years to add another 100 million meals. We look forward to
the time when 100 million meals are donated every year to save malnourished
children around the world.

Why Nourish the Children?

With NTC, you have confidence in your donation. You know what your money
will buy: nutritious VitaMeal. You know how your money will be used: to
nourish destitute children. You know that your donations will be leveraged:
with matching donations and through education and disease prevention
programmes. And you know that you are making a difference: with more than
150,000 children being nourished every day.

It is easy to nourish one more child

This program is very close to my heart not only because it nourishes children to develop the miracle machine into a fully functioning mind, body and spirit trilogy but also because it enables everyone to make a difference in the world commensurate with their effort.

And the final thing to clarify..  this is an innovative for profit charity as "free is not sustainable" in the words of Ron Finley, guerrilla gardener LA.

If you would like to Purchase and Donate one bag of VitaMeal each month or encourage a friend to do so, please contact Hans.

Hans, a Medical Liaison/Independent Distributor with Nu Skin/Pharmanex, is in row 68 in our Practitioners' List.   His previous contribution to our Community Blog can be found here: From “Overall Good Pattern” to “Perfect”

Fancy an Olive Oil Tasting? (EVENT)

By Yael Stark

I met Albertina Torres many moons ago when our kids were attending the same play group. Our roads parted but we remained friends.  Albertine ( Nina ) went back to Spain and her journey took her to her passion; olive oil.

In 2008 Nina co- founded a film documentary company with her husband Zev Robinson. In 2012, after 3 long years, they released 'Arribets everything else is noise'; a documentary that focuses on the traditional way of life and its relationship to agriculture, food, and sustainability in the Arribes region in Spain.

" We seem to forget where our food comes from"  said Nina in a chat we had earlier on... " we lost touch and track from the food we eat. In this part of Spain they have been consuming 90% of the produce for generations ; no waste, all organic and recycled."  Rather impressive, I thought, especially in light of today's food waste problems..

The documentary has attracted the Slow Food movement, which has been supporting them since. The movement "reconnects people with where their food comes from and how it is produced so they can understand the implications of the choices they make about the food they put on their plates."  It started in Italy to resist the opening of a McDonald branch in the Vatican.

The documentary also has attracted the EU which commissioned them in 2013 to produce another documentary about organic food and olive harvesting.  Part of the film was to interview one of the top agronomic consultants in Spain, Miguel Abad. Miguel makes sure that the process of production of olive oils conforms with organic farming regulations and that it respects the environment and has no affect on the quality of the olive oils.

Nina took the opportunity to ask him for advice about the top extra virgin organic olive oil brands in Spain. He produced a list of 10, which after rigorous research, Nina condensed to 4, and decided to approach them and bring their products to the UK.

Tomorrow you have a chance to meet Nina and taste the top brands of extra virgin organic olive oil. I have tried them on Monday and I can't have enough. I drizzle them on my salads, toast, even on the pasta and rice.

Where does the olive oil tasting take place?
At Jay Thankey ( row 70 in our Practitioners' List) Natural Health, 339 Ballards Lane , North Finchley, London N12 8LJ , nearest tube station Woodside Park, Northern Line

When?
Friday 27th of June ( tomorrow ) between 13:00- 16:00

Cost?
Free.

Skin Care- Exfoliation

By Sandie Epstein

Exfoliation involves the removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the outermost surface
of the skin to reveal newer skin and has been used for many years to help maintain
healthy skin. All facials include the process of exfoliation. There are two methods of
exfoliation: Mechanical and Chemical.

New skin cells are constantly being created in the skin’s lower layer called the dermis.
Over time, the cells migrate to the surface of the skin and become more acidic. During
their 30 day journey, they die and become saturated with keratin. Keratin is important as
it protects the skin from outside elements. Then the outer most skin cells should sough
off. If they accumulate on the skin’s surface, they clog pores and increase breakouts,
collect in fine lines making them more noticeable and generally give the skin a dull
appearance.

Exfoliation is especially important through the aging process and after
menopause for women as the natural process of skin erosion becomes uneven which
gives the skin a dry and rough character. Exfoliation is also important for men as it
exposes the hair follicles allowing a better shave. Exfoliation should always be done
followed by moisturizing. The face is the part of the body that is most sensitive to
exfoliation and care should be taken to not overdo it.

Mechanical exfoliation involves physically scrubbing the skin with an abrasive.
This could be using rough materials such as microfiber cloths, sponges, loofahs or
brushes. This could also mean using a scrub with sugar or salt crystals, micro-beads
or pumice. These types of scrubs are readily available for use by the consumer.
Microdermabrasion is always done by an expert and is another form of mechanical
exfoliation.

Hydroxy acids are the most common form of chemical exfoliation. They work by
loosening the bond between the surface skin cells, causing the oldest ones to slough
off.

There are two kinds of hydroxy acids, alpha and beta. Alpha hydroxy acids are
glycolic acid, citric acid and mailc acid. Glycolic acid has small enough molecules
to actually penetrate the outermost layer of skin to the dermis.

Beta hydroxy acid is salicylic acid which has the added benefit of being fat soluble. It can penetrate the oil that collects in pores so it is particularly beneficial in the treatment of blackheads and acne. Hydroxy acids can be applied in large concentrations by a medical professional or in lower concentrations in products purchased by the consumer for daily use.

In conclusion, exfoliation is extremely important for the skin’s health and appearance.
The removal of the oldest layer of dead cells enables the skin’s ability to breathe
properly and release the toxins it needs to. Dead cells collecting in pores and wrinkles
make them appear larger and more evident, and extra layers of dead cells give the skin
a lifeless appearance. Proper exfoliation will leave the skin youthful and glowing.

The power of sleep

By Beatrix Schmidt

Today’s world is all about achieving more and more every single day.

We constantly aim for growth, progression and this drive to better your life in all areas. Our days became so fast paced that sacrificing a little bit of sleep here and there is now pretty normal. There are so many things to do, so many friends to see that we find it challenging to keep up with all the demands of the lifestyle we created.

When was the last time you had a great night sleep?

We all know that sleep is essential. We get told that we must get a certain amount of sleep to feel refreshed and alert all day. We also hear about the dangers of sleep deprivation and how much it will affect our health and wellbeing in the long run. But most of us ignore these warning signs because the affects are not visible straight away. We have coffee, energy drinks or eat more to make us more alert and keep us going during the day.

Is this where you are at the moment?

Over the years the so called ‘sleep debt’ mounts up. I know this because I have been through it myself. I got to the point that I was living in this cycle of lack of sleep and days filled with eating and drinking anything that kept me going. I pushed my boundaries so much that my body had no choice but to send me a proper message. I was waking up at night because my nose was bleeding over and over again. I was exhausted and my body was just not functioning properly.

Studies show that over time sleep deprivation can cause serious health issues including heart disease, diabetes and obesity. It is also shown that most people who suffer from a health problem will also have the history of a sleeping problem way before the actual physical symptoms shown up.

Did you know that one in three people in the UK suffer from poor sleep?

Sleeping affects everything you do one way or the other!

    1.Productivity at work

When you are not rested, your productivity goes down. You are not able to focus on a project as long and you are constantly running around wanting to catch up with everything you must do before the day ends.

    2. Communication skills

Lack of sleep will massively affect the way you communicate with others. You are less patient to hear someone’s suggestion, you get defensive more easily and just not able to be present when talking to others because your attention span decreases too.

   3.Reaction time

We heard a lot about this from the media. When you are not rested, you are much more likely to get into dangerous situations and accidents. Think of the last time you were tired and dropped a mug or even stepped off the pavement without looking around properly. It is a scientifically proven fact that lack of sleep will decrease the reaction time to any sudden movements. This of course includes the time when you are driving as well.

   4.Body weight

Getting up tired after a restless night means that you are going into an ‘energy roller coaster’ for the rest of the day. You will be eating more because that is the only way your body can create more of what you need to keep you going. If you drink coffee, energy drinks or snacking on biscuits and cakes in the afternoon, you know what is happening to your energy levels. This is a sign that your body needs more nourishing sleep as well as a more balanced way of eating

  5. Immune system

It has been proven that those who don’t sleep well at night will have weaker immune system. You will pick up more cold and coughs, more likely to get sick more often and for longer too. Remember the last time you had a bad cold or even flu, the only thing you wanted to do was sleep. That is your body telling you to give your immune system a boost by allowing your body to rest and recover.

  6. Sex drive

Of course lack of sleep will affect your sex drive. When you are tired all the time and not able to sleep properly your libido will also decrease. I don’t think I need to explain it to you, if you struggle to sleep you have experienced it already.

These are only a few areas which is affected by lack of sleep. I am sure by now you understand how all of the above will also link to other areas of your life.

But I promise you, it is not all doom and gloom! There are many different ways you can start improving your sleep. I am here to help and support you to do this one step at a time. There is no better time to start then now... so lets start with a challenge. During this video series (over the next 5 days) I am going to share my top tips on how you can improve your sleeping to get to that great night sleep you deserve!

Remember, sleeping is recovery time for your body and your mind. ( an interview with Beatrix)

Join me for 5 days of powerful tips on improving your sleep one step at a time. I am really looking forward to supporting you on this journey. We start on: this Monday, are you in?

UK's Dirty Dozen

By Yael Stark

3 years ago I heard about the Dirty Dozen list for the first time; I attended a health and vitality event and the lady who sat next to me mentioned it. Seeing my puzzled look, she informed me that the list contains top contaminated fruit and vegetables that one should totally avoid consuming unless buying organic, and the least contaminated fruit and veg that you don't need to worry about if not organic. I thanked her and made a point to look it up . The list shocked me and prompted me to make some changes in my purchasing habits, and I was happy to shared the Dirty Dozen list with Think Healthy Act Healthy Be Healthy members a number of times. So why do I write about it here if the info is already on the group's wall? Well, the last few weeks, something prompted me to investigate the British 'dirty' list, for some reason I thought that the list is universal, but it is not; it applies to the US but in Europe and the UK the list is somewhat different.

I looked into Pesticide Action Network UK report from 2011  that illustrated the impact that pesticides have on our health and the environment. I summarised it and colour coded it; from the most contaminated- 1; to the least- 4:

Red- 1; Yellow-2; Green- 3; Blue- 4

List of pesticides:

1.Chlorpyrifos- one of the most toxic in the UK.

It was found in: apples, beans with pods, dried grapes, grapes, oranges, pears, pineapple, plantain, soft citrus and spinach

2. Carbendazim -It is claimed to distrupt the reproductive system, leading to the development of cancer, developmental problems and birth defect.

It was found in: apples, beans with pods, cucumber, grapes, oranges, pineapple, pre-packed salads, raspberries, rice, soft citrus and spinach.

3. Cypermethrin-  considered highly hazardous. Ingestion of Cypermethrin can cause abdominal pain, vomiting and nausea.

It was found in beans with pods, bread, courgettes, grapes, okra, soft citrus and spinach.

4. DDT- although banned in the 70s, a residue was found in burgers, oily fish, liver and smoked fish.

5. Dieldrin-a likely carcinogen

It was found in burgers, liver, oily fish, smoked fish, courgettes and cucumbers.

6. Glyphosate - the most commonly used weed killer in the world. It was found in
Bread, lentils, pulses, rice and flour.

7. Lambda Cyhalothrin- have corrosive effects on both eyes and the skin. It was found in:

beans with pods, celery, dried grapes, grapes, okra, oranges, pre-packed salads, soft citrus and spinach.

8. Methamidophos - highly toxic through all forms of exposure:dermal, oral and inhalation. It was only found in: beans with pods

9.Methomyl-a thyroid-disrupting chemical.

It was found in: beans with pods and celery.

10. Omethoate is highly hazardous.

It was found in beans with pods

The UK's list, in part, resembles the US Dirty Dozen list; It shows % of Samples That Contain Residues, % of Residues that Exceed MRLs and % of Samples that contain Multiple Residues..Please click on the hyperlink to see the details..
